Gardai are appealing to motorists to inspect their vehicles and to ensure they are locked securely at all times - especially when parked.

The public appeal follows a number of incidents, across County Clare, in recent weeks whereby parked cars have been either broken into or interfered with.

Last week, gardai in Ennis intercepted two different suspects who were observed interfering with parked vehicles in the town overnight.

The arrests were made on April 3 and gardai say a number of items of property were recovered in Castlewood Park estate, which are suspected to be stolen and possibly removed from unsecured vehicles.

"This includes a Dewalt toolbox, an electric golf trolley and other items," said a spokesperson.

Gardai at Ennis say they are hoping to reunite the property with its owners and anyone with information about the property is asked to contact them.

Investigations into all of the recent incidents are ongoing.
