Shannon Municipal District (MD) have installed durable outdoor exercise equipment at various locations at and near the embankment estuary walk in Shannon.
The funding was sourced through the 2023 Community Recognition Fund from the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Cathaoirleach of Shannon MD, Cllr Donna McGettigan, and Cllr Pat O'Gorman were on hand recently with Council staff to try out the new outdoor exercise equipment and demonstrate the importance of keeping physically active.
The equipment is robust and of the highest standard. The various pieces of equipment include fitness trainer, cross trainer, bicycle, rower, climbing frame and a meditation area.
These clustered outdoor calisthenic gym pieces will add significantly to the outdoor recreational offering in Shannon by expanding the benefits associated with regular exercise to a greater number of people.
