MORE than 40 new jobs have been created as international chicken restaurant Nando's gears up to open its first restaurant in the Mid-West.
Representatives of the company have confirmed it will open an outlet in the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick at 11:30am this Wednesday.
Founded in South Africa, the popular chain specialises in Portuguese flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken.
The new restaurant will seat 137 people in total, and will operate out of a unit near Kentucky Fried Chicken, Shake Dog and opposite the Omniplex cinema.
General manager of the Limerick restaurant Kiara Appenah said: "We are thrilled to be opening at Limerick Crescent! Situated within Limerick's vibrant hub for retail, leisure, and culture, this space is truly exceptional. We are looking forward to extending a warm welcome to all our new customers."
Nando’s restaurant will be open from 11.30am to 10pm seven days a week.
Nando's first opened in Ireland in 2008, and by September 2011 employed over 200 people across six restaurants in Dublin, Cork and Belfast. It now has 21 outlets across the island, with Newbridge in Co Kildare the only branch currently outside Dublin and Cork. Globally, it has a presence in five continents.
