Sniffer dog help seize illegal drugs at Shannon Airport

The drugs were seized during a routine operation

INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing following the seizure of a significant quantity of herbal cannabis at Shannon Airport this Wednesday.

With the assistance of detector dog, Harley, Revenue officers seized 4kg of the drugs as the result of routine operations.

With an estimated value of €80,000, the illegal drugs (pictured below) were discovered in two separate parcels originating from the United States and were destined for an address in Tipperary.

Investigations are ongoing.

Separately, Revenue officers seized over 752,000 cigarettes during an operation at Dublin Port on Wednesday. 

The cigarettes, with a retail value of around €594,000, were branded ‘Dunhill’ and ‘Karelia Blue' and were discovered concealed in metal boxes in a consignment which originated in Bulgaria.

Again, investigations are ongoing.
