Prizes for the best kite creations in Clare will be given this weekend

LIFT off in Clare this weekend, as the Kite Power Family Festival comes to whirlwind close!

This Sunday, February 11 at midday will see people gather in Shannon town let their kite creations go as they will take flight to mark the end of the family-fun fest.

Workshops were taking place over the last two months for children and parents, families and friends to take the opportunity to bring their arts and crafts skills to life and create a kite which will stay airborne.

On behalf of sponsors, Shannon Airport, the Kite Power Festival is part of Limerick's Hunt Museum's current exhibition to highlight the power of wind as an energy resource.

Prizes will be given in each location for: the best flyer, the best use of recycled packaging and decoration and the best artistic design.
