Killaloe graduate makes it big in public relations

A YOUNG Killaloe woman is making her mark in one of the most challenging areas of business—the profession of public relations.

While working in Dublin, Emma Collins (26) was the marketing and publicity consultant for The Walt Disney company and Disney+, developing for them marketing strategies, publicity, and producing events for releases from the Walt Disney Studios, including Walt Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, Lucas films, Twentieth Century studios, Searchlight Pictures, HULU and FX.

Emma was on the team that organized the Irish premiere of The Banshees of Inisheerin, which received nine nominations at the 95th Academy Awards.

A graduate of Killaloe’s St Anne's Community College secondary school, Emma went on to take a MSc in Art Direction at Dublin’s Technological University, receiving the award for top student in her cohort. During her MSc she wrote a dissertation, Saving the World in Style—'A qualitative study of what influences green Gen-Z consumers to purchase sustainable fashion’.

She received a 1:1 in this dissertation. She has also pitched creative concepts to a number of Ireland’s most successful organizations, from the GAA to Ireland’s Artisan Pantry.

When Japanese whisky maker, The House of Suntory, celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, Emma was the project manager for the international events for both New York and London and global publicity, that marked the centenary. In this she worked with actor Keanu Reeves and Academy-Award-winning director Sofia Coppola.

During a stint in Seville, Emma worked as Art Marketing Assistant with TodoMuta Studios. She has also been a production assistant at One Productions in Dublin.

She has achieved an award-winning documentary about BDSM in Ireland, and the production of an award-winning fashion show in Dublin. She writes a regular newsletter called 'ec phone home'.

Emma now lives in New York where she works at Articulate.
