A MOTORIST is facing prosecution for multiple offences after they were allegedly caught drink-driving in County Clare despite being disqualified.

Details of the incident, which happened earlier this month, have been revealed by gardai on social media.

According to the post, the detection was made by members of the Clare Roads Policing Unit who stopped a dark-coloured Ford car while on routine patrol.

"The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for drink-driving. Checks back in the station showed they were already serving a 15 year disqualification for drink-driving," stated a spokesperson.

The driver was subsequently charged with multiple offences and their car was seized.

Further details of the detection have not been disclosed as the matter is now before the courts.
