THE SEAN Kelly Three Counties Cycle rolls out from Limerick for its third year, led by ‘one of the greatest cyclists’ Sean Kelly.
The cycling event will take place on Sunday September 17 and has two routes to choose from.
A 50km and a 100km route – both of which take in the scenery that Limerick, Clare and Tipperary have to offer.

The main cycle starts at 9am and leaves from the Jetland Shopping Centre on the Ennis Road, Limerick.
From there, it will pass through parts of Clare including Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Bridgetown, Broadford and Sixmilebridge before returning to Limerick.
The event has an ‘Easy Riders’ start at 8:15am for those who would prefer a smaller crowd or a more leisurely pace for the 100km route, which aims to create a more inclusive event for all cycling abilities.
The event is fully marshalled, fully insured and has a range of refreshments available before, during and after the event to keep the cyclists fuelled!

The beneficiary for the event is Down Syndrome Limerick, a charity which supports children and adults with Down syndrome throughout their lives through a range of services and social activities like Speech and Language Therapy, adult education courses, employment support programmes and many fun social activities too including cycling lessons.
Ellen Tuffy, Chairperson of Down Syndrome Limerick said, “The Sean Kelly Three Counties Cycle is a fantastic event which sees people from all over Ireland and further afield come together to support our children. It is an important fundraiser for us each year. We are so grateful to the wonderful committee of volunteers involved in helping us to organise this event. We have had so much support for the last 2 years so we are hoping that people will come to participate again. Thank you to everyone for their support – the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and participants and not forgetting King Kelly himself! We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable cycle.”
International rugby referee Joy Neville encouraged people to take part on Three Counties Cycles Instagram page saying; “Please support a great cause, get on your bike for Sean Kelly's Three County Cycle. Best of luck to everyone involved.
