LOOP Head has been nominated by Clare County Council as their pilot decarbonisation zone (DZ) for Clare.

The announcement is said to be hugely beneficial when it comes to the support and delivery of projects on the peninsula that align in terms of sustainable community and climate action goals.

A DZ is a spatial area identified by the local authority, in which a range of climate mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity measures and action owners are identified to address local low-carbon energy, greenhouse gas emissions and climate needs to contribute to national climate action targets.

The pilot is currently in the first stage of action planning for the Kilkee/Loop Head Peninsula DZ - this process involves the development of a Register of Opportunities - a list of potential actions that will be taken forward and developed into draft actions in the coming months.

To support the development of the Register of Opportunities an online survey has been designed to collect information on the priorities, suggestions and insights that will inform the actions selected for progression in the Kilkee/Loop Head Peninsula DZ.

The survey can be accessed, here.
