IN A MOVE to improve road safety, Clare County Council has announced plans to implement traffic calming measures in Killaloe.
The proposed measures, authorized under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, aim to enhance pedestrian safety and optimise traffic flow in the area.
The proposed changes include the construction of a raised table with an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing on the eastern side of the junction with the L30842. Additionally, a raised table will be built at the existing controlled pedestrian crossing, situated 107 meters southeast of the junction.
These modifications will be accompanied by a footpath buildout, the installation of tactile paving, and the placement of appropriate signs and road markings.
Detailed plans and information regarding the development can be accessed below and will be available for review until Monday, July 24.
Members of the public and interested parties are encouraged to submit their feedback and observations concerning the proposals.
Submissions can be made via email to roads@clarecoco.ie or in writing to the Administrative Officer of the Transportation Section at Clare County Council's address: Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare. The deadline for submitting comments is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24.
The proposed traffic calming measures are part of Clare County Council's ongoing efforts to prioritize road safety and create a safer environment for both motorists and pedestrians. By implementing these changes, the council aims to mitigate potential risks and ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the vicinity of L3084 New Street.
