Joy for local family who wish to remain anonymous following arrival of infant son

THE FIRST Clare baby of 2024 arrived less than two hours into the new year.

The little boy was born at University Maternity Hospital Limerick at 1:36am. His family, who live in the Banner County, wish to remain anonymous.

The infant was the second baby to be born at UMHL in the early hours of this New Year's Day.

The first was delivered at approximately 12:40am. He was born weighing 3.8 kilogrammes. Both mother and baby are said to be doing really well.

His family, who hail from Castletroy in Limerick, have requested that all other details be kept private.

The infant was the fourth baby brought into the world in hospitals across Ireland so far this year, and the second outside Dublin.

The Rotunda Hospital in the capital saw the first baby in the State, baby Arlo Robert Emmett, born to Nicole and Robert Emmet from Meath at 12:04am.

Two minutes later, the first baby girl of 2024 arrived to proud mother Sundas Khan in the Coombe Hospital, also in Dublin.

The first girl born in UMHL arrived just before six o'clock this New Year's Day morning to a mother from Charleville, County Cork. She weighed in at 3.5kg.
