WATCH: Our reporter tried axe-throwing at the Ploughing and it went badly wrong

Tractors, livestock and machinery took a backseat for our reporter at this year's National Ploughing Championships as she tried her hand at a new hobby.

A testament to the diverse attractions at the National Ploughing Championships, a sizable queue of punters gathered to try their hand at axe-throwing. Eager to join, our reporter Niamh Kenny got the low-down from expert instructor Benny before having a try herself.

Her hopes of a bullseye were quickly dashed as her throw went awry, her face saying it all. Benny humorously suggested she might stick to reporting.

Keep an eye on our National Ploughing section for more news, photos and videos from this year's event in Ratheniska, Co Laois.
