Ardnaculla Summer School, now in its 3rd year, is a community and ecology festival promoting learning, connection, creativity and regeneration.

The festival is three days filled with knowledge sharing, discussions, talks, hands-on events, music and great food,  this June bank holiday.

The event, taking place at Hometree Charity in Ennistymon and locations around west Clarewill gather landowners, stewards, and artists passionate about addressing climate change, and will offer attendees practical insights and tools to address these challenges.

Notable speakers for 2024 include writers, Manchán Magan and Easkey Britton; Seán Ronayne of Irish Wildlife Sounds; Director of Creative Ireland, Tania Banotti; Cormac McGinley of Cormac's Coast; singer Síómha; and a host of other engaging ecologists, artists and leaders shaping the discourse on environmental stewardship.

They will host workshops on themes as diverse as invasive cherry laurel management, preserving native seeds, the ACRES scheme, nature sketching and herbal medicine.placeholder image

Funding from Creative Ireland this year means that the programme is interwoven with many creative elements and workshops including events focussing on the role of creativity in behavioural change, song crafts, rope weaving, and imagining rural futures.

Hometree's work is to establish and conserve permanent native woodland in Ireland, encouraging land regeneration and biodiversity through afforestation, restoration and education. Our core value is stewardship. Through education and supporting increased awareness and consideration of Ireland’s natural environment, we hope to nourish a new way of relating to nature conservation and rehabilitation.

Hometree's Development Lead Ray Ó Foghlú adds, “Summer School is a unique opportunity for the public to see and experience the work that Hometree does year round, and learn from people working in the restoration field. It has a relaxed atmosphere, so it invites conversations about and between people that might not usually happen. Every year we try to keep this event as accessible to the community as possible, so we invite everyone to attend.”
