Investigation launched following 'serious assault' in Clare town

Gardaí in Ennis are appealing for witnesses to what's being described as a serious assault earlier this week.

A man, aged in his early 30s, was hospitalised after he was attacked while walking in Clarecastle at around 8pm on Monday.

"The injured party was walking on Clarehill when he was approached by a male. The injured party was assaulted by a male and was subsequently taken to University Hospital Limerick," said a garda spokesperson.

Investigation gardai have yet to release a description of the suspect and they say the injuries sustained by the injured party are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating and they are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this assault or who has any information in relation to it, to contact them at on 065 6848100.
