Gardaí in Shannon are appealing for witnesses following the theft of several bales of hay from a farm yard in Sixmilebridge over the bank holiday weekend.

The six bales, which are worth several hundred euro, were taken from the property in the Belvoir area sometime between 5pm last Friday and 6pm on Saturday.

"Gardaí believe a tractor and trailer was used to steal the round bales and the gardaí are asking anyone that observed a tractor and trailer with round bales on either Friday evening or Saturday morning to contact them," said a spokesperson.
