National Outlook
OVERVIEW: Generally unsettled at first, especially on Wednesday with the potential for heavy rain and windy or stormy conditions. Drier for at time later in the week.
Monday night: Largely dry at first with clear spells before a band of heavy, showery rain moves in from the Atlantic, tracking eastwards though staying mostly dry in the east and northeast till morning. Temperatures not falling below 11 to 13 degrees in fresh and gusty southerly winds.
Tuesday: Rain in the morning will continue to track eastwards, clearing into the Irish Sea by lunchtime. Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow from the west, some heavy with the chance of thunderstorms. The showers will become more isolated through the evening, mostly confined to the northwest. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds.
Tuesday night: Showers in northwest at first, mostly dry with clear skies elsewhere. Cloud will build from the south early in the night with rain following, becoming widespread and heavy by morning as south to southeast winds strengthen. Lowest temperatures early in the night of 6 to 10 degrees.
Wednesday: A very windy or stormy day as a depression tracks northeastwards across the country with potentially damaging gusts, especially in the southwest. Widespread heavy falls of rain will lead to flooding in places. As the depression clears northeastwards later, the rain will clear with easing winds. Highest temperatures generally of 14 to 17 degrees.
Thursday: Likely dry for most at first before rain tracks eastwards across the country through the morning and early afternoon, followed by showers, with some heavy or thundery falls possible. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.
Further Outlook: Current indications suggest Friday and Saturday will be drier with lighter winds and just some showers. Further spells of rain likely for Sunday.
