Clare TD Cathal Crowe condemns 'too many acts of thuggery' over the Christmas period

This is believed to be in response to footage that emerged of an incident that took place along the the Mill Road in Ennis on Christmas Day.
Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has expressed his outrage at the anti-social behaviour taking place in Co Clare, particularly over the festive season.
The spokesperson for Tourism and Aviation took to social media, stating, "Like all of you, I am pretty sick of feuds in Clare holding our county to ransom and putting innocent lives at risk. I have, again, seen footage of far too many acts of thuggery, violence and criminality over the Christmas period."
"Criminal gangs cannot turn County Clare into a lawless 'Wild West' and law and order must prevail! I have every confidence in our county's Gardaí to robustly carry out their duties but they will need additional support from Garda HQ and they will also need greater support from the public - don't let anyone 'off the hook' - report everything you see!" Mr Crowe concluded.
This is believed to be in response to footage that emerged online of an incident that took place along the the Mill Road in Ennis on Christmas Day at approximately 5pm.
The video appears to show two damaged cars which collided with one another, weapons, with a death threat being issued.
It is understood that the incident is linked to an ongoing feud.

According to Clare FM, gardaí have seized two vehicles for technical examination following the road traffic incident.
The TD confirmed that he has written to Drew Harris, a Garda Commissioner, urging him to fully utilise the Armed Response Unit, manpower from beyond the local Garda division and the Criminal Assets Bureau "to task those who make up their own laws."
Along with this, in a separate social media post, the Clare man also wrote to the local Garda Chief Superintendent.
Both parties have given responses, however, the TD is "seeking a meeting and much deeper engagement" believing that more resources are needed, beyond Clare's local Garda Division, "to fully control the situation."
In this post, Mr Crowe said, "A decade ago, the Special Criminal Court put manners on Limerick's feuding gangland figures. The same robust response needs to be taken with the feuding families of Clare that have been waging war on eachother for some time now. Lock up their ringleaders, seize their cars, jeeps, and vans!"
A Garda spokesperson told Clare Live, "Gardaí responded to reports of a road traffic incident in Ennis, Co. Clare on Wednesday evening, 25th December 2024. There were no reports of injuries. Investigations are ongoing."
