Clare nominate local garda inspector for new drug related programme
A NEW DRUG related intimidation programme has been developed by An Garda Síochána.
The programme has been made in response to the needs of drug users and their family members experiencing drug related intimidation, meaning when a criminal alleges that a sum of money is owed as a result of a drug debt.
A garda inspector has been nominated in every garda division, including those in the Clare area.
A person seeking advice or assistance with a related issue can contact an inspector in their locality, who will meet with them ‘formally or informally’.
According to a statement by the gardaí, they will deal with any complaint with the ‘utmost safety’: “An Garda Síochána in dealing with any complaint of drug related intimidation or advice sought in relation to this issue, will do so with the utmost safety and effective means in order to afford the person or family subject to the threat of the best level of security, advice and support which can be offered.
“Most importantly An Garda Síochána will deal with this issue in the utmost confidential and secure fashion.”
The nominated Clare inspector is Detective Inspector Padraig Frawley of Ennis Garda Station, on 065-684-8100.
