Clare County Council to hold free household hazardous waste recycling day

HOUSEHOLDERS in Clare are being encouraged to avail of an upcoming free household hazardous waste recycling day.
Clare County Council has secured funding from the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications under the Anti-Dumping Initiative to run a Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty, where the public are invited to dispose of hazardous household waste free of charge by bringing it to the Central Waste Management Facility, Inagh.
Household chemicals that will be accepted from on the day include adhesives, aerosols, antifreeze, batteries (household, car & fence), herbicides, household detergents, medicinal waste (human only), mixed fuels, oil (cooking & engine), oil filters, paints & varnishes and pesticides.
Similar days were run in 2020 and 2021, and yielded a huge response from the public. Such an event was not held in 2022, but it was decided to hold another day this year.
Waste from commercial operators will not be accepted.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 14 from 8.30am to 12.30pm at the Central Waste Management Recycling Facility, Ballyduf Beg, Inagh, County Clare.
