Clare carer recognised at national awards for 'much appreciated' work

A CARER from Clare has been recognised for their job at a national awards ceremony.
Ruth Leamy, from Clare, has been named care coordinator of the year at the Bluebird Care Awards 2023.
On Friday, November 17, homecare provider Bluebird Care hosted their annual awards ceremony at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.
A total of 32 finalists of healthcare and care workers from across the country gathered to celebrate and acknowledge the individuals who work in the homecare sector.
Ruth joined Bluebird Care in 2018 as a health care assistant and progressed to care coordinator. Whilst she settled into her now role very quickly, she continued to work as a health care assistant on a part-time basis, as she missed the rapport she had with her clients.
Kay Leahy, Managing Director at Bluebird Care said: “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to our winner Ruth, who always takes the time to connect with all the carers on her team, to have a chat with them and get to know them better, she has an outstanding relationship with everyone.
“Homecare is predominantly lone working - Ruth is very conscious of this and endeavours to ensure that the carers are listened to, making them feel they are all very much appreciated.”
Bluebird Care provides direct care to clients on behalf of the HSE, as well as supporting private clients. Alongside elderly patients, and those recuperating after hospital treatment, specialist personnel look after people with disabilities and children requiring complex paediatric care.
