Clare business to encourage mothers to share their breastfeeding stories

A SMALL business is asking women to share their breastfeeding stories on social media to inform expecting mothers.
In a bid to give expectant mothers a chance to hear what breastfeeding is really like, Clare e-commerce Mama’s Boobie Box is encouraging moms to share their positive stories throughout the month of May on Instagram.
According to a recent poll conducted by Mama’s Boobie Box on social media, 57% of mums didn't have a mother or grandmother who breastfed.
With their initiative, they aim to reignite the knowledge amongst breastfeeding mums and share their stories.
Behind the idea, Petrina O'Halloran believes the power of storytelling resonates so much more with mums rather than reading something in a book or pamphlet about breastfeeding.
Since June 2022, Mama's Boobie Box has been sharing breastfeeding stories from their followers since last June and has 8 recorded in the series so far. You can listen back to all of these via their website.
When asked what mums found useful from the stories so far, Petrina said: "The normalisation about so many things in relation to breastfeeding, such as cluster feeding, sleeping patterns, newborn behaviour and others perceptions of breastfeeding.”
Started by a mum who had so much difficulty breastfeeding, Mama’s Boobie Box aims to help other mums overcome their breastfeeding issues and offer support. The business offers more than breastfeeding essentials and also provides a range of support through their social channels.
