Josie Anne’s Patisserie in East Clare to close down this month

A much-loved bakery in East Clare is set to close their doors this January.

Josie Anne’s Patisserie in Ogonnelloe announced that the bakery would be "closing its doors for the last time this coming January 2024" in a Facebook post in December.

"I will be forever grateful to so many to have had the chance to keep Josie Anne's going for as long as it has and getting to know so many of our fabulous customers," owner Elaine Mead said in the post.

Josie Anne's has been in operation since November 2020, and moved to its Ogonnelloe premises two years ago, where it's been a central part of the local community.

Many have reacted with sadness to the news in the comments under Elaine's post, expressing their sorrow at the news and wishing her and her staff the best of luck.

"We enjoyed every visit to Josie Anne’s. It will be a great loss to Ogonnelloe," one of the top comments reads.

In a follow-up post on January 4, Elaine confirmed that their last day would be Sunday, January 14, 2024.

"I cannot thank everyone enough for all the lovely kind words and messages since announcing we will be closing this month," she said.

"Thank you all again so much for all your support and looking forward to meeting more of you again before we close. Thanks again, Elaine."
