Beautiful Leap Day baby is one of county Clare's newest citizens

Baby Isla Lee Barry was the one of the first babies born on February 29 2024 to Miriam Hallahan and Michael Barry living in Miltown Malbay
One of Ireland's first Leap Day babies of 2024 is also one of county Clare's newest citizens.
Baby Isla Lee Barry arrived at 10.48am at Limerick Maternity Hospital to proud new parents Miriam Hallahan and Michael Barry.
"We are both the youngest of 6 and 8 respectively so its nephew/niece number 28, there needed to be something unique for this one!" dad Michael told Clare Live.
Leap year babies or 'leaplings' are incredibly rare, with the odds of being born on 29 February just one-in-1,461.
Out of a worldwide population of over 8 billion people, Isla will only share her birthday with 5 million other people.
But she also has the special distinction of being the first Leap Day baby born this year at Limerick Maternity Hospital.
While Miriam hails from Kilmichael in Cork, she and Michael have settled in his native town of Miltown Malbay, where they have just built a new house in the town.
"This is baby number 1 so all excitement, being born on Leap year has made it very unique as neither of us know anyone with a Leap year baby," Michael added.
