Artist sets up free, month-long exhibition in Clare

A RETIRED art teacher and Irish artist has come to Clare for a month-long showcase of glass works, themed on nature.

Cultúrlann Sweeney Gallery, Kilkee is hosting Glass Reflections - an artworks exhibition by artist Sean Walsh.

From December 5, 2023 to January 5, 2024, the library will showcase Sean's glassworks which are structuralist in nature.

The free exhibition, supported by Clare Arts Office, shows art which is a skeleton of lines and curves, carefully chosen and placed according to the system of measurements called the Golden Section or Phi D’Or.

Sean is a contemporary artist, living and working in Cahir, County Tipperary. He graduated from NCAD and worked as an art teacher from 1967 to 2004 at St Ailbe’s School, in Tipperary.

In his work, Sean tries to create a unity of elements and he sees this as a common thread between the most ancient artworks down to the present day.

This exhibition is free of charge and runs to January 5, 2024, inclusive, and everyone is welcome.
