An Post CEO to speak on sustainability in Clare

THE CEO OF An Post is set to address the audience at a Shannon Chamber luncheon event to speak about the company becoming the first major company to eliminate the gender pay gap, and becoming the first postal service to attain zero emissions in all major cities around the country in the world.
CEO of An Post David McRedmond’s focus on the day will be sustainability.
He will share insights into how An Post has reduced its carbon emissions by 4% year-on-year, avoided €1.5m in fuel costs through better fleet efficiency and how it plans to achieve net zero carbon emissions from its own operations by 2030, with a 50% reduction by 2025.
Shannon Chamber chief executive Helen Downes is delighted that Mr McRedmond has accepted the invitation to speak at this luncheon event.
“To see an organisation that is one of the largest employers in the country, maintaining one of the largest fleets in Ireland and running the largest retail network in the country, attain such high standards is an amazing achievement,” she said.
“Having recently established a sustainability task force, which has set objectives in the key areas of energy, waste, water and biodiversity, we are keen to see what An Post has done to enable it to attain the outstanding achievement in Sustainable Business Impact at Chambers Ireland’s Sustainable Business Impact Awards 2022.
“An Post received this award for demonstrating a commitment to sustainability in its company values and consistently meeting key judging criteria across all aspects of sustainability. We are looking forward to a sharing of insights on the day which will help us, as a chamber, and our members, to work towards delivering a sustainable future for our businesses and for the environment, driven by the work of our sustainability task force,” she added.
The Shannon Chamber lunch with David McRedmond, which is supported by AIB, Clare County Council and Shannon Chamber Skillnet, is open to all businesses in the region.
It takes place in Dromoland Castle Hotel on Tuesday, March 21 at 12.30pm.
