950 Clare customers affected by new boil water notice
A BOIL WATER notice has been issued for a number of Clare villages and surrounding areas.
The areas affected include O’Brien’s Bridge, Bridgetown, Montpelier and surrounding villages.
Following consultation with the HSE, Uisce Éireann and Clare County Council have issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 950 customers supplied by the O’Brien’s Bridge Public Water Supply.
This follows an issue with disinfection at the plant. All consumers affected by this notice must boil their water before drinking until further notice.
Uisce Eireann’s Duane O’Brien acknowledged the impact of this notice on the community, saying: “Public health is Uisce Éireann’s number one priority and we would like to assure customers that the notice has been put in place to protect public health.
“We would like to assure customers that we are working to resolve the issue and lift the notice as quickly as possible.”
Uisce Éireann’s drinking water standards, as per EU Drinking Water regulations, are strict and include wide safety margins.
In all instances immediate action is taken to address the cause of the issue to enable the lifting of the notice as quickly as it is safe to do so, in agreement with the HSE.
