Watch 'the moon take a bite out of the sun' during partial solar eclipse

This eclipse is the biggest partial solar eclipse recorded in the last ten years
A partial solar eclipse has occurred across parts of the world in what is being called the biggest eclipse of it's kind in the last decade.
The spectacular phenomenon has offered skywatchers a chance to see the moon pass over the sun.
In Ireland, the eclipse started at approximately 9:54am until 12:03pm on March 29 2025.
The Irish Astronomical Association said that he magnitude of the eclipse will be over 50% for all of Ireland, with North West Mayo getting the most, at almost 57%.
It was emphasised that it is very important that you don't look directly at the Sun, even during this eclipse, with your own eyes, and especially not through any sort of binoculars or telescope, as there is a serious risk of permanent eye damage or blindness.
Pictures have circulated social media from around the world and in Ireland from people who have seen the rare phenomenon.
The next eclipse will be visible in the sky on September 21 2025, and will be another partial solar eclipse.
