Trainee garda rescues distressed man from river

A TRAINEE Garda saved a man "in distress" who disappeared underwater.

Trainee Garda O'Mahoney, Garda O'Sullivan and Garda Cybulski, responded to an early call about a male in distress when the man suddenly entered the nearby River Lee in Co Cork.

Without thinking twice, the trainee jumped in to save the man and bring him back to the surface.

He managed to bring him back to the water's surface, while Garda O’Sullivan swam to help them both get safely back to the river bank.

Speaking of the incident on social media, Garda Info explained: "As all three got within reasonable reach, trainee Garda Jack O’Mahoney threw a lifebuoy to aid the rescue."

"Within minutes, Cork City Fire Brigade arrived to the scene and medically assessed the man. We are very relieved that he is in recovery," they added.
