Suspected drunk driver to face dangerous driving charge after overnight crash

A suspected drunk driver in Kilcock, Co Kildare was lucky to escape uninjured after crashing their car while driving over the legal limit for alcohol consumption.
However, gardaí said their luck quickly ran out when they were arrested at the scene.
"They will now appear before the courts for drunken and dangerous driving," a garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí have reminded drivers that it takes about 1 hour for each unit of alcohol to pass through the average person’s system.
1 unit is equal to half a pint of beer, a small measure of spirits or a small glass of wine.
"Stay safe and leave the car at home when drinking on a night out," a garda spokesperson said.
