Busy day at National Lottery HQ as a host of winners come forward

It's been a Super Tuesday at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin as a host of winners from five different counties claimed prizes totaling more than €3 million.

The single-biggest prize handed out was to a Galway man who claimed a staggering €1,005,000 prize which he won in the special EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ draw held last Friday.

The winner, who bought his ticket at Monaghan’s Centra and Circle K on Seamus Quirke Road in Westside, Co. Galway, said that Friday-the-13th is now his new favourite date in the calendar. Initially believing he had won €5,000; he was shocked to discover his prize was over €1 million.

Speaking at National Lottery HQ, he revealed that he celebrated with a steak dinner, even surprising a couple dining nearby by covering their bill, as they shared how it was their first night out in months. Looking forward to sharing his win with family in Roscommon, he’s also planning to purchase a holiday home in the sun.

Another big winner from Dublin claimed a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize which she also won in last Friday's draw. The winner purchased her winning ticket in Spar, Poppintree Parade, Ballymun.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she spilled her Corn Flakes all over herself when she discovered she’d won the half a million-euro prize. Amazingly, this is her second win this year—she had previously scooped €50,000 on a scratch card back in January. She joked that she’ll stop playing for a while to give others a chance to win!

A family syndicate from Offaly were all smiles as they arrived at Lottery HQ to claim their incredible €500,000 prize from an All Cash Extravaganza scratch card.

The group, made up of three family members, could hardly believe it when the head of the syndicate decided to take a chance on the very last scratch card in the roll at Buckley’s SuperValu on Main Street, Birr, Co. Offaly.

After cashing in a smaller €20 win, she bought the ticket and scratched it in her car. Initially, she thought they had won €50,000. Overjoyed, she rang the other syndicate members to share the good news. But when they got together to check the ticket more closely, they realised it wasn’t €50,000—it was €500,000!

The family was in total shock. The group plans to use their winnings to clear off remaining mortgages and are already excitedly planning a well-deserved holiday.
