THE IRISH Defence Forces who are serving in Israel, Lebanon and Syria are all “safe, well” and “accounted for”, according to the latest mission report.

While the last 48 hours in Lebanon have seen “sporadic exchanges of fires” between Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and Non-State Actors (NSA) in South Lebanon, the intensity of fires has decreased.

As a result, Irish troops have taken shelter in protected positions and will continue to monitor the situation, until it is safe to conduct further planned operations.

In Syria, all non-essential activities are reportedly ‘suspended’, and the situation remains ‘calm’ at this time.

The Irish personnel serving as United Nations (UN) Observers in Israel and aforementioned countries, are monitoring situations with ‘vigilance’. They are all reportedly safe and well, and are complying with UN security precautions, which is focused around unnecessary travel.
