A victim of the stabbing outside a school in Dublin's Parnell Square East is "still with us" and has shown "incredible strength", her mother has said.

The parent of the five-year-old has issued an update of her condition online, which she has thanked the public for donating over €26k for the victim and her family.

On November 23, an attack took place outside Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire in Dublin city and saw three children and two adults injured. The unnamed young girl remains in Temple Street Children's Hospital in critical condition, from stab wound injuries she sustained in the attack.

The latest update from her mother states: "Dear all, thank you so much for the incredible gesture and kindness you have shown our family during these troubled times.

"Your thoughts, prayers and generosity have and will go a long way. Our little girl has shown incredible strength and still here with us.

"We don't know yet what lies ahead as it is still early, but she is resilient and limitations will not stop her. Thank you so much. All the love we can give."

In order to respect the family's privacy, the creator of the beneficiary, Róisín Fitzgerald, simply says she created the GoFundMe on behalf of 'JA'. Róisín has also since changed the name of the fundraiser to Barróg do Chailín Beag (A Hug for a Little Girl).
