Second woman dies in Irish waters in 24 hours as body recovered near popular seaside suburb

The woman is the second person to die in Dublin waters in just 24 hours, as swimmers have been warned to take extra precaution.
A woman's body was found in the water at a seaside suburb in the early hours of this morning, less than one day after another body was recovered from Dublin waters.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Clontarf following the discovery of the body at around 7am this morning.
Gardaí say they have launched an investigation, as the woman's body was removed from the waters.
"Gardaí attended the scene following the discovery of the body of a woman in the water at Clontarf, Dublin 3, this morning at approximately 7am," a garda spokesperson said.
"The woman’s body has since been removed from the scene. Enquiries are ongoing. No further information is available at this time".
The news arrives less than 24 hours after a woman in her 60s died, after reportedly getting into difficulty in the water off the coast of Portmarnock.
Emergency services attended the scene after an alarm was raised that a woman got into trouble while swimming in Portmarnock at around 1.30pm on Monday (October 7) afternoon.
The RNLI rescue hospital 116 and Howth coastguard also attended the scene, with the woman being located at around 3pm.
The woman was transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
