Probationer garda helps female motorist out of 'a bit of a pickle'

One probationer garda went above and beyond to assist a female motorist stranded at the roadside in the Midlands.

Garda Darren Garvey had just come on duty at Portlaoise garda station on Tuesday, April 16, when they received a call from "a woman in a bit of a pickle".

The woman suffered a flat tyre while on her way from the midlands to an appointment in Tipperary, according to a post on the official An Garda Síochána Facebook page.

"Probationer Garda Darren Garvey was happy to call out to the link road in the town to safely change the tyre," the post read.

Thanks to Garda Garvey's assist, the motorist and her passenger were back on their way within fifteen minutes.

"We respond to all sorts each day - some more difficult tasks than others but we will always be here to help," the post ended.
