Rashers, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs were compared to 2023 prices

The price of the average full Irish breakfast has risen by over 3% in the last year, along with most food items.

According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the cost of the much-loved fry has risen by 3.1% in the past year.

While the items of a full Irish breakfast are often disputed, the CSO's based their figures on eggs, rashers, sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes.placeholder image
While the items of a full Irish breakfast are often disputed, the CSO's based their figures on eggs, rashers, sausages, mushrooms and tomatoes.

The cost of these items averaged €28.03 in January, compared to that of €27.20 last year, per kilogram.

Adding in the cost of milk, bread, butter, tea and the price rises to €38.79.

The cost of those foods, determined by the weight (kg), means these CSO figures represent a family-sized purchase rather than a singular portion.
