Over 20 cheeses stocked in Irish Supermarkets recalled over Listeria fears

Various branded cheeses produced by Wicklow Farmhouse have been recalled

The Food Safety of Ireland (FSAI) have recalled 21 cheeses from Irish supermarkets following the possible presence of Listeria Monocytogenes.

The 21 different branded cheeses are all produced by Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese and have been recalled due to possible presence of Listeria Monocytogenes.

The cheeses are stocked in Irish supermarkets such as Supervalu, Dunnes Stores, and Spar.

The 21 cheeses have all been recalled over potential presence of Listeria Monocytogenes which is an infection that can include mild-flu like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symtoms. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated cheeses from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated cheeses and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.
