The meteorological service has released predictions for the coming week, with temperatures expected to soar to the mid-20s

Met Éireann have predicted a 4-day heatwave starting this weekend in their latest weather forecast.

Meteorological experts are predicting high temperatures throughout the weekend and even through to Monday and Tuesday next week.

According to Met Éireann, today (Saturday June 22) will be dry and bright with sunny spells and highest temperatures of 21 degrees.

Temperatures will climb to highs of 23 degrees tomorrow, with scattered clouds and plenty of sunny spells.

Monday will reach a temperature peak with highs of 24 degrees expected in what will be quite a mild day.

It will be a mild night, too, with lowest temperatures of between 13 and 16 degrees, with some outbreaks of patchy mist or form with a little drizzle at times.

Although a few outbreaks of rain are expected across the country on Tuesday, there will also be sunny spells with highest temperatures of 23 degrees.

Wednesday, however, will see temperatures dipping to highs of 19 degrees with some blustery winds and widespread rain and showers.
