Man on e-scooter dies after being hit by van

A man aged in his 50s has died following a crash in Co Sligo.

The man had been travelling on an e-scooter when he was struck by a van in townland of Rusheen, Riverstown at approximately 8.10pm on Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who was driving the van, aged in his 30s, received minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.

Gardai remained at the scene on Thursday morning.

The L1303 road was currently closed in Rusheen for a technical examination with traffic diversions in place.
