The two-car crash happened in Pallasgreen on Sunday night.

A man in his 40s has died and four others were brought to hospital following a crash in Co Limerick on Sunday night, Gardaí say.

The two-car-crash happened shortly before 10pm on the L1135 at Pullagh in Pallasgreen.

The man who was the driver, and only occupant, of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The coroner has been notified.

The driver of the other car, a woman in her 50s, and a teenage girl who was a passenger were both brought to UHL for treatment of what Gardaí say are “serious injuries”.

Two other passengers, a woman in her 20s and a teenage boy, were brought to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road is closed for a forensic examination by investigating Gardaí and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
