Man arrested by gardai probing alleged threats to elected politicians

A man has been arrested by gardai who are investigating alleged online threats against public representatives.

The man, in his 40s, has been arrested for an alleged offence contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

He is being detained at a Garda station in the west of Ireland under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1948.

Gardai said no further information was available.
