Irish comedian Stevo Timothy, who was left paralysed after a road incident, has shared a stark warning to others.

The comedian also known as Farmer Michael, lost control of his vehicle while drunk driving in 2005. His friend, John Liffey, was killed in the crash.

“There's been a scary upturn in road deaths this year already and last year was the highest in ten years. Look, I know we all like a mess now and again and we like to test the speed limits a bit too much but just please keep in mind the tragic consequences when it all goes wrong. It's not worth it,” said Timothy on social media.

Timothy, who woke up having lost feeling from his chest after the accident, added: “If you are lucky enough to survive you could be left with lifelong injuries. I'm 42 and my body is already starting to give up. I went from climbing mountains and hiking to being afraid of big kerbs and wet leaves. And keep the phone in the pocket. One lapse of concentration can lead to absolute devastation.”
