Group of friends remember late Carlow man with ‘Freezbury’ challenge

Conor Duffy passed away in October 2023
A group of friends will take part in the ‘Freezbury’ challenge in memory of their late friend.
To remember their dear friend, the late Conor Duffy, five young men will swim in freezing water every day this February.
Conor Duffy tragically passed away on October 8, 2023.
The Rathoe native, who has been described as a talented rugby player, was part of Tullow RFC.
To honour his memory, Dylan Lynch, Barry Gray, Oisin Byrne, Fionn Bergen and Shane Buggy will take part in the challenge.
“For the 3rd year in a row we’re doing the Freezbury challenge in order to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health,” they said.
“We want to remember all the good times we had with Conor while bringing all of Conor’s friends and family together by raising awareness for men’s mental health and the need to talk. Conor done the challenge with us in 2021 and 2022, so now it’s time to do the challenge for Conor,” they added.
The Freezbury challenge will see participants get into open freezing water every day this February. The time spent in the water will be determined by the date. For example, on February 14, participants will spend 14 minutes in the water.
With this challenge, the five men aim to raise awareness on men’s mental health, as well as raise funds.
They are also inviting people to join them and take part in the challenge. If you wish to donate, you can do so here.
