The driver was caught without insurance, tax and a valid NCT and is expected to face court proceedings following the incident in Roscommon

A driver was stopped in an uninsured car with a two-year-old passenger unrestrained in the car, gardaí have confirmed.

Gardaí on patrol in Roscommon had an ANPR alert for a vehicle driving without valid insurance.

This car was stopped, gardaí confirmed on social media, and found to not have tax or an NCT certificate.

"There was also an unfastened 2-year-old passenger. The car was seized and the driver will face court," gardaí outlined.

The details were shared in a social media post be gardaí on Sunday, just hours after it was confirmed that a pedestrian in Cork and a motorcyclist in Wicklow lost their lives over the weekend.
