Gardaí investigating dissident republican activity seize firearms and ammunition

Gardaí have seized firearms and ammunition as part of an investigation into dissident republican activity. 

The seizure was made in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan yesterday (Monday December 12) by Gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit. 

During the course of the search a .22 rifle and a revolver with a large quantity of ammunition with varying calibres were recovered. 

No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing.
