Gardaí express their admiration for 'innovative' cyclist in Cork

They note cyclists should check over bikes and make sure they are safe for the road
Gardaí are advising cyclists to "check over" their bikes and make sure they are safe for the road after a Cork cyclist was stopped after Gardaí discovered they had a "mechanically propelled" bike.
Taking to Facebook, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána posted an image of the vehicle syaing: "Cork West Road Policing Unit stopped this "bicycle" which had been fitted with a petrol engine.
"That makes it a mechanically propelled vehicle.
"We admire the innovation but it's extremely important that is checked over and made safe if it's to be used on a public road."
