The three-car collision occurred at Ballybane on Sunday evening

A man in his 40s has died following a three-car road traffic collision in Galway on Sunday, 18 May.

Emergency services and gardaí responded to the crash at Clareview Park in Ballybane at approximately 2.50pm on Sunday evening.

Gardaí said that all three drivers involved were brought to University Hospital Galway following the crash.

One of the drivers unfortunately passed away at the hospital shortly after as a result of a medical condition. Gardaí said: "the post mortem will determine whether that was as a result of the road traffic collision."

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward with any information or camera footage.

Any road users who were in the Clareview Park area between 2:30pm and 3pm and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gaillimh Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
