Gardaí and army seal off area in Clontarf after bomb discovery

GARDAI and Defence Forces are at the scene of an incident in Clontarf, Co Dublin, following the discovery of an explosive device.

Gardai and Army Bomb Disposal Units are currently in attendance of an ongoing incident in the St John's Wood area of Clontarf after reports of an explosive device.

According to a spokesperson for the gardai, the area was sealed off after a potential historical artillery shell was discovered in the area.

Earlier today, residents in the area were evacuated from their homes following the discovery.
