System alerts act as an early warning when there is the possibility of supply shortage

EIRGRID has has issued a System Alert warning of potential supply issues, due to low levels of wind power being generated in the electricity system across Ireland.

The operator of the national electricity grid has issued the warning this Monday citing "low wind and solar and forced outages at a number of generators which has resulted in a reduced capacity to meet demand”.

System Alerts (previously known as Amber Alerts) are issued as an early-warning when there is a possibility of supply failing to meet demand.

Eirgrid has stated it is working to resolve the issue.
