Dublin Airport face backlash as lack of taxis cited as 'utter incompetence' online

PASSENGERS arriving at Dublin Airport were met with frustration as they encountered long queues and at the taxi rank, igniting a wave of criticism on social media.

A disgruntled traveler took to X (formerly Twitter), expressing their exasperation with Dublin Airport's taxi services, stating: "Usual utter incompetence on taxi by @DublinAirport right now.

"35-40 people in a queue at T2 in lashing rain - happens every single time. Honestly, it’s beyond parody," the user wrote.

The tweet gained rapid traction, striking a chord with others who shared similar tales of inconvenience.

The post quickly gained traction, resonating with others who have experienced similar issues in the past.

The social media uproar has prompted further discussions on the necessity for infrastructure improvements and better planning to tackle the recurring challenges at the Dublin Airport taxi stand.

As frustrations mounted, the DAA responded to the criticism. A spokesperson stated, "It is always unfortunate when taxi customers have to wait longer than normal anywhere in the country, but especially at Dublin Airport, due to high demand given the nationwide shortage of taxis at present."

The DAA asserted efforts to address the issue, stating: "We have increased the number of taxi permits at Dublin Airport this year by 20% and have seen a significant improvement in customer queue times at the Dublin Airport taxi ranks resulting in 90% of our customers waiting for less than 10 minutes for a taxi."
