Broadcaster makes emotional plea to public for when he has passed

FORMER broadcasting journalist, Charlie Bird, has appealed to the public to support his wife and dog once he passes away.
The journalist took to X to say; “Hi everyone, I want to make a direct appeal to everyone who supports climbwithcharlie, when I pass, please help my lovely wife Claire and Tiger to continue the work of extending the hand of friendship to people in dark places and the charities I support. I really love you all.”
Charlie worked as an RTÉ news correspondent and was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in 2021.
He has used his platform to help people living with the disease and spread awareness.
Recently Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD presented the World Public Relations and Communications Award to Charlie.
The award was in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the Climb with Charlie campaign.
The campaign, initially aimed at raising €1 million, surpassed all expectations by amassing a remarkable €3.6 million for two noble causes: the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and mental health charity Pieta.
